Details will appear here about the
plans to relaunch this festival,
which is planned to be run by
Cliftonville Hockey Club itself.
At first this is likely to be a
smaller event than in the past.
If you want to be informed of
developments directly, please send
us an email.
We could also use this area as a
resource for historical information
about the festival in the past, so
if you have reports, stories or
pictures, please send them to us.
We will also consider any links to
touring sides sent to us, depending
on quite what sort of lewd behaviour
is shown on them!

It would appear that it is very unlikely the event will be run this year (2005), but attempts are to be made to run in 2006. It is clear that we have firm backing from the local hoteliers, so all our visiting teams must have made good impressions over the years.
The main sticking point at the moment seems to be opening channels with the local authorities. Hopefully, in due course we will publish details here of who you can send an email/letter to in order to show how much we all want this festival back.

Hi Cliftonville HC
Just a note/reminder to ensure you let us know about the Festival being on/off in the future.
As you may know we have come down regardless and organised our own games along with Tayminster each year, since the end of the Festival.
For your information we are not going to be in Thanet in 2006 in the last weekend in April, since it dovetails into a Bank Holiday weekend. We will be there instead on the previous weekend, ie April 22/23 instead.
Regards

"I play hockey for Southgate Adelaide Hockey Club (North London). I also play for a summer side called "Griffins". The Griffins H.C. have been taking a side to the Thanet festival for the past 50 years and are very keen to keep the tradition going.
I am the club captain of Griffins H.C. and would like to bring a team to Thanet if the festival is to be resurrected. Alternatively we would be happy to meet up with local clubs for some friendly matches over a suitable week-end (ideally the last week-end of April)."

Hi Cliftonville HC.
"I was wondering whether the hockey festival would be back on next April or not?
When we were last down in Thanet in April, a couple of your guys said there was a good chance that the
festival would be resurrected for 2005. Any news about that? Thanks for the update"
